Types Of Brain Coral

There are many interesting things to see in the sea and of all of the things to see, the many types of brain coral are arguably some of the most interesting. There are thought to be at least 24 different types of brain coral, though the differences between the different types may not be easily identifiable by the naked or untrained eye. All types of brain coral are quite interesting and come in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.

Types Of Brain Coral And Ideal Water Conditions

All types of brain coral prefer warmer waters and most are protected because they are in danger of being extinct. The reason for this is that all types of brain coral are falling victim to increasing temperatures in the oceans as well as large amounts of silt that is being washed off of the land into the ocean, which is then smothering the coral. All types of brain coral need plenty of space in which to grow and free flowing water to continue to thrive. Unfortunately, silt does away with both the space and free flowing water.

Types Of Brain Coral In The Name

There are many different types of brain coral, but all of them get their name from the holes and channels that exist on the surfaces of all types of brain coral. The channels and gaps resemble the folds in the human brain, though the exact pattern that is found is different in all types of brain coral. Many people think they have seen all of the different types of brain coral while diving, but then they see something that they have never seen before and they realize that there are many different types of brain coral and each offers something different than the rest.

Types Of Brain Coral, Open Brain

The two most well known types of brain coral are the standard type and the open brain coral. The standard type is spherical and looks remarkably like the human brain. These types of brain coral can grow as tall as six feet in height, or taller! The open brain coral is another of the most well known types of brain coral and it is more of a pinched oval in shape and usually has two to three polyps coming off of it. The open types of brain coral look spikier than the others and are quite interesting to look at.

Types Of Brain Coral In The Reef

All types of brain coral are interesting and are a major part of coral reefs and inter-reef environments. There has been a lot of research on all types of brain coral and other types of coral to understand more about their cleansing and purifying benefits to the ocean and why all types of brain coral and others are declining at such a rapid pace.

Types Of Brain Coral Eco Systems

This research, of all types of brain coral, has been instrumental in devising ways to keep our coral reefs intact and to preserve the oceanic eco-system. All types of brain coral offer something to the ocean and it’s important that we make attempts to preserve all types of brain coral and other corals.
