Neon Dottyback Temperament

The family of dottyback fish are known for their elusive nature, and the Neon Dottyback is no different. They should be provided ample rockwork in which to hide, as they tend to stay in their crevice until it's time to feed. The Neon Dottyback can be moderately aggressive, so it's a good idea to keep only one per tank, with other moderately aggressive fish.

Feeding Habits of Neon Dottyback

This type of fish is mainly carnivorous. Neon dottyback prefer small crustaceans and zooplankton, though some may eat polychaetes and small fish. In a home aquarium, they will eat just about anything meat based. Mysis, brine, plankton, and Formula One are good foods to try first to use as a staple diet.

Neon Dottyback Reef Care

Keeping marine saltwater aquariums is a great hobby for many fish enthusiasts. Plenty of hiding spaces are required when keeping Neon Dottyback. They love to hide in crevices and caves created by natural coral reefs and other aquarium pieces. Tanks should be kept clean and free of disease. When introducing this type of fish to your reef, it's important that the dottyback is introduced last to minimize aggressive behavior.
