Goniopora Care
In the world of aquarium hobbyists, Goniopora Care is often the subject of many debates. One of the most consistent threads of information about this species is that Goniopora Care is often quite difficult and requires an experienced and dedicated aquarium keeper to maintain the health of this type of coral. This coral needs a moderate to strong current in the tank to keep the long tentacles swaying and in good health.

Surprisingly enough, this particularly delicate coral often thrives in more murky water conditions. Goniopora Care is often more of a trial and error situation, as there are a lot of theories as to the best way to maintain their health. Goniopora Care And Appearance
Colonies of Goniopora are usually branching, columnar or massive, but may be encrusting. Corallites have thick but porous walls and calices are filled with compacted septa and columellae. Goniopora Care includes observation of coral polyps that have 24 tentacles, and different species usually have polyps of different shapes and colors. Polyps are usually long and flashy and tentacles are normally extended day and night. It is also referred to as Flower Pot, Ball, Daisy or Sunflower Coral.
Goniopora Care And Feeding
While some choose to not feed their Goniopora at all (relying on photosynthesis), others have achieved success in feeding phytoplankton and other small particle commercial foods and brine shrimp. Goniopora Care hobbyists have had success feeding these corals fine particle foods such as oyster eggs and cyclopeeze. It is well known in the coral hobby community that feeding this coral is more of a trial and error adventure.
Goniopora Care And Tank Lighting
For Goniopora Care, tank conditions sometimes need to be "perfect" in order for them to thrive. Intense or medium light is crucial to keeping this coral in a tank. Even turning the lights out for 24 hours can have an adverse affect on this type of coral. Goniopora will retreat fully into their skeleton and often die if not lighted properly.
Goniopora Care Overall
In general, Goniopora Care and propagation should be left to the more experienced reef keepers. They are traditionally difficult to feed and properly keep in an aquarium setting, although there are many success stories as more people gain knowledge about keeping Goniopora.
