Ricordea Care
Ricordia care is very important because these corals are quite delicate and need to be cared for accordingly. The lighting in the aquarium is important in Ricordia care. Follow the directions I have outlined below for ricordia care and you will have a better chance at success. Remember, everything plays a role in your success with ricordia care so taking shortcuts on any step could cause problems in the end.
Light Tolerance and Ricordea Care
The light tolerance in Ricordea care depends on the coral, and both the Ricordea Yuma and Ricordea Florida have different tolerances for aquarium lighting. This is especially so for power compact actinic, VHO, or metal halide lights. The Ricordea Yuma will melt with too much lighting, especially with MH or VHO lights. Always double check what lights you are using to ensure proper ricordia care. Otherwise, you may find your ricordia dissolved and this would be very depressing.
Lighting Solution and Ricordea Care
The best source of lights is through metal halide lights when they are used Ricordea Care on Rack correctly. I recommend them after using them for years with Ricordia mushroom coral successfully.
Mono Specific Ricordea Care
It is recommended to build a Ricordea only reef tank system if you plan on propagating Ricordea mushroom coral. The coral, especially after propagation, emit chemical toxins that are less harmful to other Ricordea coral than to other live coral. The Ricordea tissue is very delicate so be sure to always wash your hands thoroughly prior to handling them.
Infections and Ricordea Care
Infections are serious and should be taken care to avoid with Ricordea care. A small tear can result in a big infection and in just a few days the live mushroom coral will literally dissolve. Circulation and water movement are important so I set up containers with holes in them in the mushroom coral systems to aid in water movement and keep the live coral from being moved too far. You can easily punch holes in containers to create your own mini system for the proper ricordea care to ensure they prosper.
Substrate and Ricordea Care
Attaching the Ricordea polyps to substrate is frequently necessary when propagating Ricordea. Rubble can be used and glued onto the disk and then the foot will attach itself naturally to the rubble. Never, ever apply any type of glue or adhesive directly to the flesh of the Ricordea, or the flesh of any mushroom coral.
