Ricordia Yuma Recovery

Ricordia Yuma recovery is incredible and the most impressive moment was when the mushroom contorted its foot to close the opening and create a cylinder yet again. This is what the mushroom did first and where all of its energy was directed. Once the wound was closed by the foot, the disk began to look more arc liked as it tightened horizontally and constricted vertically.

Ricordia Yuma Foot

The Ricordia Yuma foot looked very much like a pie with a piece or so cut out Ricordia Yuma Healinginvery little time. It was surprising the initial energy was not allocated to closing off the intestines with the foot as this could potentially be good food for reef fish.

Ricordia Yuma Recovery Speed

Most of the activity happened fast and then things slowed down quite a bit. This differed from past experience working with both Rhodactis and Ricordia. This is probably because the rigid disk results in a healing process that is not only growth but also the healing of a wound. In the case of Discosoma, the mushroom is soft, flexible, and makes dailyprogress. However, this was different and when the polyp had closedapproximately 75% the foot began to expand from the bottom to reach the top of the disk and finally seal off the intestines. This was surprising that it took so long and may or may not be a result of the rigidity.

Ricordia Yuma Practically Healed

When the Ricordia Yuma was 90% healed the internals had been closed offbecause the Ricordia Yuma Near Totally Healedouter walls fused with the disk. The intestinal region had beenengulfed by the foot for protection purposed. One small portion at the top of the disk had been left exposed, however. My guess is that this area was left open to act as a mouth until a mouth could be created.

Slow Ricordia Yuma

I had not noticed the slow healing process with others like the Discosoma, Rhodactis, or Ricordia Florida as I did with the Ricordia Yuma. I was surprised that the healing process took much longer, although it did allow more time for Ricordia Yuma 2 Months laterobservation.

Ricordia Yuma 2 Months later

Two months after the healing process I cut both polyps in two. The healingpattern and time was very similar, although it seemed more taxing on the coral. There was a lot learned from the observations of this ricordia Yuma propagation. The process was quite interesting and the best was that when it was all over there were four hot pink Ricordia Yumas rather than the original one!

Regarding the proposed extension of the no rock shrimping area over the coral reef along Florida's east coast, I can understand the need to preserve the coral reefs along our coast, but why put a longtime business out of business?

Coral growth in Western Australia found to be thriving in warmer water

One such impact most researchers thought was well understood was the bleaching of coral reefs. As ocean temperatures rise and become more acidic, coral reefs tend to slough off the algae that grows on them, causing them to slowly die.
